Since 2016, the Agrarian and Technological Institute of RUDN has been actively cooperating with the Agrarian Faculty of ESPE University. Two of the best graduates of the bachelor's programme won the Open Olympiad of RUDN in Ecuador and continued their studies on the master's programme of the Agrarian and Technological Institute. After successfully completing their master's programme, they were enrolled in post-graduate study. Representatives of ESPE took part in significant events of RUDN University. Within the academic exchange, ATI professors went to Ecuador for lectures, master classes, and articles are published in specialized journals of partner universities.

Definitely, such fruitful cooperation between universities could not be successfully implemented without the multilateral support of our graduates in Ecuador. Victor Hugo Abril Porras - the Dean of the Agrarian Faculty of ESPE University, the member of the Board of the Association of Ecuadorian graduates, the graduate of the Agrarian Faculty of Peoples’ Friendship University named after P. Lumumba is one of them.

At the beginning of October 2019, as a part of the visit of the delegation of RUDN University headed by Vice-rector for International affairs Larisa Ivanovna Efremova, a day was planned for planting a memorial tree in the territory of ESPE University. Everything was perfectly prepared for the ceremony, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Ecuador were invited to this event.

However, due to the difficult internal political situation and mass protest demonstrations, the delegation of RUDN University was not able to visit the ESPE University campus (located in Sangolquí suburb of the capital Quito).

On behalf of Rector of ESPE University Umberto Parra, representatives of the University headed by the Dean of the Agrarian Faculty in honor of the 60th anniversary of Peoples’ Friendship University Russia, establishment of friendly contacts between the two universities, international academic cooperation a fruit tree Capuli with the installation of a commemorative plaque was planted in the territory of ESPE University.

Capuli is a cherry tree. Cherry is considered to be a symbol of human life, joy and luck. Many peoples of the world consider a cherry tree as a symbol of fertility and prosperity.

We believe that the planted cherry tree Capuli will also be a symbol of the long fruitful friendship of our universities, countries and peoples.
