This year RUDN University is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
This is not such a serious age for a university, but for a person, it is definitely an important date in life. And the celebration of the sixtieth is more like a meeting of friends; these are memories and gifts dear to the heart from those closest to us.
According to the old and good tradition, students and graduates will prepare a large gala concert. It will be a hearty and sincere evening, a holiday for all graduates, teachers, staff, students and friends of the University. Over the years, the RUDN family has grown and still continues to grow, so the whole world will gather at the Kremlin's 60th anniversary.

Establishment of the Peoples' Friendship University (Peoples' Friendship University named after Patrice Lumumba, now RUDN).

The University Council enrolled 539 citizens from 57 countries of the world as a student. The first student of the University of Peoples’ Friendship is a citizen of Sierra Leone, Ahmed Murad Taki, holder of student ID number 1, a graduate of the medical faculty of 1966.

The University celebrated its tenth anniversary in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses. The University received congratulations from UN Secretary General U Thant, who emphasized that he had visited the University twice and that "the University is widely known as an important scientific center for training specialists." Congratulation came from D.M. Niemeira, head of the Democratic Republic of Sudan, in which he promised that annually for the most prominent graduate he would give a cash prize of 150 rubles, and also donated the tusks of an elephant as a gift.
